OUR SERVICES

A lifecycle approach

Ramboll supports clients throughout the lifecycle of an environmental site assessment, from initial Phase I assessment through detailed soil and groundwater investigation to remediation implementation and close-out. We support clients from single-site projects to long-term partnering and legacy site management of portfolios.

Green remedy development

We worked with regulators to develop a green remedy for a CERCLA site in Indiana, that reduced the carbon footprint and increased capacity for contaminant mass removal. Remedy modifications included bands of phreatophytic trees to enhance hydraulic controls and a constructed wetland system for onsite treatment of groundwater/leachate using natural and microbially mediated processes. Operation and maintenance costs have been reduced by more than $100,000 annually, affording a five-year return on investment of capital to construct the wetlands system.

In situ groundwater remediation

We developed a remedial strategy using in situ thermal remediation for the areas of greatest groundwater contamination, combined with in situ chemical oxidation for the less contaminated zones, and a slurry wall to surround 3.2 acres of the parcel for a site in New Jersey. In just over 30 months, we completed the comprehensive $45 million remedial program, including site investigation, design and remediation of the site, ultimately removing over 35,000 pounds of chlorinated volatile organics over 3.2 acres and depths to 40 feet, making the program one of the largest in situ thermal remediation projects completed to date.
